故事概要

阿尔玛到佐兰人那里传道，他们骄傲，每周站在会堂中一个高台上，重复同样的祷告，感谢神拣选了他们，而其他人都要被毁灭。他们把穷人赶出会堂，说他们衣着粗陋，不配在那里敬拜。这些穷人来问阿尔玛该怎么办；阿尔玛说，他们因为贫穷而谦卑，这是有福的。他教导说，信心不是对事情有完全的知识，而是盼望那看不见却真实的事。他请他们用他的话做一个试验：把神的话比作一粒种子，如果让它种在心里，不因不信把它丢掉，它就会在心中发芽、膨胀，使人感到灵魂扩大、心智开明，由此可知这是好种子。树苗需要用信心、勤奋和耐心来培育；如果疏忽，它就会在烈日下枯死，不是因为种子不好，而是因为土地贫瘠。若细心培育，它就会成为一棵长到永生的树，将来能吃到甜美的果子。

为什么重要

阿尔玛书第32章是摩尔门经中关于怎样建立信心最实用的教导。它不要求人一开始就完全确信，只要“哪怕只有一点想相信的愿望”（32:27），愿意试验；然后在心里观察种子的生长。这对刚开始读经文的人特别合适。

Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.
