故事概要
可利贺来到柴雷罕拉，宣讲说没有基督会来，人不能知道未来的事，也没有罪的赎罪，每个人的成败都只靠自己的本事，人死了就什么都没有了；许多人听信了他，放纵自己去犯罪。他在基甸地被捆绑，最后被带到大祭司阿尔玛和首席法官面前。可利贺说祭司们捏造信仰来辖制百姓，并要求阿尔玛给他看一个神迹，证明有神。阿尔玛说他已经有足够的证据了：众先知的见证、经文，以及天地万物都显明有一位神。可利贺仍坚持要看神迹，阿尔玛就说，他将被击哑，结果可利贺真的不能说话了。他写字承认自己其实知道有神，是魔鬼以天使的样子欺骗了他，他教导那些话是因为讨人喜欢。他求阿尔玛为他求情解除咒诅，但没有得到应允；后来他沦为乞丐，在佐兰人中间被人践踏而死。

为什么重要
可利贺的话听起来很像现代的一些观念：只相信看得见的，成败只靠自己。阿尔玛的回答是：天地万物本身就是见证。故事也提醒人，要求神迹不等于愿意相信；可利贺自己承认，他心里一直知道有神。

But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.
Now when Alma had said these words, Korihor was struck dumb, that he could not have utterance, according to the words of Alma.
And thus we see the end of him who perverteth the ways of the Lord; and thus we see that the devil will not support his children at the last day, but doth speedily drag them down to hell.
