便雅悯王是柴雷罕拉的一位义王，他年老时召集全体百姓到圣殿旁，每家都把帐棚的门朝着圣殿；因为人太多，他在高塔上讲话，并让人把他的话写下来传给听不到的人。他说自己一生都亲手劳动养活自己，不加重百姓的负担，又说当你们为同胞服务时，就是在为你们的神服务。他说天使告诉他，基督将要降世，行许多神迹，为世人受苦，人只有借着基督才能得救；而属肉体的人是神的仇敌，除非顺从圣灵的感召，借着基督的赎罪成为圣徒，像孩子一样谦卑、顺服。他还教导百姓要照顾穷人，因为在神面前我们都是乞求者。百姓听了都俯伏在地，呼求怜悯，并得到罪的赦免；他们说圣灵在他们心中带来了巨大的改变，使他们不再想作恶，只想常常行善。他们与神立约，被称为基督的儿女。

And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.
