故事概要
约西亚八岁登基作犹大王，他行耶和华眼中看为正的事，不偏左右。他作王第十八年，派人修理圣殿，大祭司希勒家说：“我在耶和华殿里得了律法书。”书记沙番把书念给王听，王听见律法书上的话，便撕裂衣服，因为知道列祖没有遵行，神的忿怒将要临到。女先知户勒大传达神的话：灾祸必定会来，但因约西亚心里柔软、在神面前自卑，这灾祸不会在他在世的日子临到。约西亚召集全国的人，把约书念给他们听，在耶和华面前立约，要尽心尽性地遵守；众民都服从这约。他除掉国中一切偶像和邱坛，连耶罗波安在伯特利所筑的坛也拆毁了，又照约书上所写的守逾越节。圣经说：“在约西亚以前没有王像他尽心、尽性、尽力地归向耶和华……在他以后也没有兴起一个王像他。”

为什么重要
神的话被遗忘在圣殿里，一旦被重新发现并被认真听从，就带来了全国的复兴。约西亚年少却真心回转，是犹大最后一位好王。然而复兴来得太晚，列王纪紧接着说神的忿怒并没有转消（23:26），犹大在他死后二十多年就被巴比伦灭亡。

大祭司希勒家对书记沙番说：「我在耶和华殿里得了律法书。」希勒家将书递给沙番，沙番就看了。
And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
王站在柱旁，在耶和华面前立约，要尽心尽性地顺从耶和华，遵守他的诫命、法度、律例，成就这书上所记的约言。众民都服从这约。
And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
在约西亚以前没有王像他尽心、尽性、尽力地归向耶和华，遵行摩西的一切律法；在他以后也没有兴起一个王像他。
And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
